Two Days

Well, it's two days to due date. Vic has a Dr. appointment this morning and I will join her. Last week the doc said, "see ya next week". I really hope she doesn't say that again today. We're ready to meet our son.

We've been having fun saying, "Saturday" when people ask when the baby is due. In the past the answer was something like, "not until September", or "in about six weeks". But to say, "Saturday", has such gravity, finality; the time is upon us.

Or is it? Or are we going to have to wait another week?

If we go a week over the doctor said she will induce. The induction process is okay in the sense that you can get ready, take a shower, double check the overnight bag, etc. It seems a bit anticlimactic though. It lacks that rush of excitement and the subsequent scurrying about and flood of nervous emotion that is inherent in the idealistic notion of having a baby. It seems to me that that is part of the fire parents should have to walk through. I hope we get to do that together. It's a far more interesting story.

But what the heck do I know? I've never been a dad before.

I can't wait.
